Blaine July 4th {Parade}

Here are a few photos from the Blaine, WA Fourth of July parade. I didn’t take a whole bunch mainly because I wanted to really enjoy the parade and being constantly behind the camera doesn’t always allow you to be fully present. Fellow photogs I’m sure you can sympathize with me here. So anyhoo here’s what I got….Last year was my first time visiting during this season and I obviously enjoyed it enough to come back again this year!This little town was packed!! They have an open car show with some really awesome cars. There are tons of things for the kids, free live music, great food, and vendors galore! Oh and did I mention the perfect weather, nothing but blue skies and a cool breeze!And it begins with the most important thing…a tribute to our military….past, present, and fallen.As they walked carrying the banners of the fallen soldiers they were surrounded by the sounds of everyone…I mean EVERYONE…standing and clapping them on. The most moving thing I’ve ever witnessed hands down.

I loved the horses!!Then came all the cool old trucks and cars. Afterwards we stopped and bought some roasted nuts. Oh my….they were fantastic!!My sister and niece.Hey look that’s me!They bought us matching shirts!!And to complete my Fourth of July outfit, my blue/white striped Toms. The edit makes them look washed out but they’re a darker blue. I got lots of compliments about them! Thanks Katie from Sobo Fashion Lounge in Fort Worth, TX. If you need Toms go see her!!

Hope you too had a wonderful holiday!!

Gift Giving {Mini Accordion Book}

Besides displaying your photos in your home you also may come across the need to gift photos. Perhaps you never even thought about it because you automatically think of the gift as a nice matted and framed 11×14 and that seems daunting. But what if it can be so much simpler? What if it doesn’t have to be this big purchase?

I want to introduce you to the mini accordion book. Not a bulky album with the photo corners. A neat composed book where photos can live forever that can be used and gifted with ease.

The Quick Simple Gift: Mini Accordion Book

I’ll hit you with the price first. That way you don’t think I’m going to surprise you with a big ticket at the end.

18 for a solid cover or $24 for a custom cover. Boom! A custom book for less than $25 dollars. I think that fits even the strictest of Chinese Christmas rules haha

Size.

Small enough to for grandma to carry in her purse for a brag book. That’s really all you need to know, right?! It has a soft magnet closure so its not flapping open and getting lipstick on the pages during transit. Not that I think she’ll have it in her purse half the time, but it’s nice to know the pages will be protected on the rare chance it is.

Real Estate.

10 pages for photos/text. That’s not including if you choose the custom front. That’s a lot of bang for your buck and if you have a large family everyone can have their own personal space and then some.

Presentation.

People are going to be impressed when you pull out the sleek hard covered book filled with your adorable family. The linen or pearl paper will probably send them over the edge. Jealously might even peek its little head out and you might have to tell them where you got it! Fine by me!! 🙂

And if you really want to knock the socks off the recipient and make them feel like you really went all out, you can purchase a frosted slip cover to go over the book.

I hope this has helped you think outside the box a little and also made your gift giving a little easier. The uses for this product are endless. Senior portrait books, birthday session book, brag book, mother’s day gift, etc…the list could go on and on. The recipient list is equally as long – mom, grandma, friend, aunt, stocking stuffer, or my favorite…yourself!!

Valentine’s Day {Special}

I will be running a Valentine’s photo shoot special for $89.

This can be for an infant (not newborn), child, or couple session.

Included in the session will be a set of either Valentine’s Cards or Bookmarks  (set of 25)

Above is the 3×3 Leaf cutout card. It comes in either card stock, linen, or pearl paper, includes envelopes, and is double sided. (my watermark will not appear on your card in that fashion, online purposes only)

The Bookmarks are 2×8 and also come in a set of 25 in card stock, linen, or pearl paper. These are a very trendy way to give out Valentine’s!!

Please use the Contact tab to book your session. I must ask that full payment be made at the time of booking to secure the date. Your product, once ordered, arrives within 2-3 business days.

P.S.
I am in need of a female model for a boudoir shoot. I’ve never shot one before and will give you 5 images (low res to share online) from the practice shoot on a cd as a thank you!! So if you are interested again contact me here or via Facebook. If you’re not interested tell your girlfriends haha!! This would be a fun Valentine’s gift for a hubby!! Oh I have started a board on Pinterest of different images I feel would best represent how I would shoot a boudoir session so feel free to browse: linnyjo

Happy New Year {2011 in Review}

I hope everyone had a safe and fun New Year’s Eve. I pigged out on not-so-healthy foods with some pretty fabulous peeps. When I wasn’t doing that I was making everyone laugh at my outrageous answers to Catchphrase. Oh my, that game is so fun with the right people!! We stopped long enough to catch the broadcast of the countdown at about 1 minute and rang in the New Year. Then I got to wake up this morning to watch Tom and Jerry with the cutest little 4 year old on the planet. I was also privileged enough to watch him play Ben 10 on his DS. Boy am I lucky!! haha

Since the start of a new year is all about reflection I want to show a photo (or two) from sessions from each month of 2011. Hopefully we’ll see some progression in my work. So here goes….

So there’s my year in photos. I can’t wait to have another great year. It feels really good to start 2012 knowing I have the most amazing job I could ever want. Not only that but amazing friends and family that are so supportive and give me so much motivation to succeed. I thank the Lord daily (sometimes more!) for all my blessings, no matter how small.

Looking forward I want to travel, even if it’s only to WA state again, and take more photos for me….how I see the world.  I also hope to establish a studio this year. That’s a big time goal. I want that so bad!! A place to showcase all my work and run my business. It’s so exciting to think about!! It will happen, I just have to be patient and work my way towards it.

Oh and get ready in April to start seeing tons of photos of a certain little baby girl. My best friend (since we were 4) is having her first baby!! That child will have soooo many photo sessions she’ll think she’s a movie star!! I’ll have my own little model to practice on.

Here’s my other little model (the cutest 4 year old I talked about earlier) from yesterday.

From the bottom of my heart I want to say a big THANK YOU to all my clients. You are helping me live my dream. I love getting know each and every one of you and look forward to many more sessions. Keep spreading the word! ha ha Once again Happy New Year and God Bless!!

Family Session {Ricketts}

What to say first about this little family?? Uh, they’re beautiful!!
Second?? Super nice!!
I went to school with both Haley and Ryan.
Although they’re a tad younger than I am.
Ryan used to play in a rock band with my younger brother Adam.
We were all freezing during this shoot.
They make me look good.
I was allowed the pleasure of photographing their first baby’s newborn photos.
You can see those here.
But first take a look below.

Stay tuned next week because this weekend I’m taking photos of Ryan’s whole family. Should be super fun!!!

Thank you Haley, Ryan, and baby Ryder for the awesome session!!

Family Session {Barrett}

The cooler temps have finally arrived in N. Texas but that hasn’t slowed any of us down taking photos. This past Saturday morning was in the upper 30s, thankfully no winds, and we braved the chill to get some adorable photos. This was my first time meeting the Barrett family although we know several of the same peeps. That’s the commonality in a teeny tiny town. They are the cutest little family and I truly had a wonderful time snapping away in between keeping my fingers warm!

Love the mother/daughter & father/son shots. So sweet!!

Is she not the cutest little thing??! I mean just look at her mommy. Sorry dad but we know where the looks came from! haha (BTW do you own a gun, ya might want to get one soon)

And last but by far my most favorite. I felt like I was doing an engagement session all of a sudden! They are too cute!!! Loved it!

Thank you Barrett family for allowing me the pleasure of photographing your precious family. I enjoyed it to the max!!

Fall Session {Fain’s}

I held a contest not too long ago for a free photo session and this happy family won! They wanted a fall session and we were able to fit it in right before Thanksgiving. Jacob happens to be my cousin and he married my friend Jody. Their little boy Kenson just turned 2 and he has the funniest little personality. He is most famous for his nose wrinkle!! They also brought along their puppy Jax, a beautiful chocolate lab, for the shoot.

This turned out to be a little more special of a shoot than we thought, because, you see, their dear Jax got sick over the weekend and we received the terrible news that he did not make it through the night last night. They are heartbroken and I’m so very happy we were able to capture them as a family before this tragedy occurred.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Losing a pet is like losing a part of your family.
